Gold historically has been our most precious metal and it is the colour of Olympic victory. It also has other fascinating associations. Artspace Loughborough artists were given a free rein to interpret ‘Gold’ in their own way and have produced an exciting exhibition of new work exploring gold as colour and light but also its meanings in myth, culture, money and business.
Socket member Tracey Kershaw is taking part in a group exhibition ‘Modern Madonnas’ at St George’s Church, Esher during May and June 2012.
Over the last 5 years St George’s Arts have been building their reputation as a showcase for cutting edge art. For ‘Modern Madonnas’ they have chosen 12 artists from all over Britain, whose work provides a thoughtful response to the relationship between mother and child.
‘Modern Madonnas’ runs from 26 May – 17 June, 11am-3pm Mon-Sat, excluding bank holidays. (Private View: Thursday 31 May)
