Nicola has worked with mineral-based materials in an exploration of ‘earth’ both as planetary body and substance.The exhibition is at the Charnwood Museum Loughborough and runs Saturday 6th July – Sunday 29th September.
Socket artist Jane Pepper has work on display at Derby Musem and Gallery as part of the exhibition ‘Enlightenment: Ideas that changed the world’. Featuring a magnificent hand-built ‘cabinet of curiosities’, the exhibition celebrates Derbyshire’s role in the age of Scientific Discovery (1712 – 1916) in a dramatic display of recent aquisitions made by the HLF Collecting Cultures project alongside other objects from the museums’ collection.
Jane has responded to the museum’s herbarium and natural history collections to produce botanical wallpapers and assemblages which have been incorporated into the display.
The exhibition runs until 25th August and is accompanied by a program of Enlightenment- themed events and talks.
Tracey Kershaw‘s solo exhibition ‘Talking About Mothers: Work in Progress‘ featured material generated during Tracey’s residency with the University of Nottingham’s Fine Art department, offering a preview of her ongoing project ‘Tell me about your Mother’ (working title).

Many visitors to the exhibition have responded to Tracey’s invitation to take to the chair and tell her about their mothers, and Tracey has been on site each Friday of the exhibition’s run to listen to the stories and experiences of visitors, and to discuss the work.

Such has been the success of this first exhibition Tracey plans to adapt it for the web and make it available online, allowing people to submit their thoughts in the same way that the ‘Tell Me About Your Mother‘ box has been used during the exhibition. She also plans to bring elements of the exhibition to Nottingham venues in the near future.
Tracey was awarded the opportunity to exhibit at Bank’s Mill as part of an Artists’ Portfolio Day organised by Synapse Arts and Embrace Arts.
Socket artist Dorothy Dexter is exhibiting with Sherwood Printmakers Group at Sherwood Methodist Church, Mansfield Road, NG5 2EN as part of the annual Sherwood Art Week. This year opens with the Secret Garden Craft Fair on Saturday 22nd June at the URC, Edwards Lane, and continues throughout the week with Art in Shops, Workshops and Exhibitions until Sun 30th June 2013.
Socket artist Tracey Kershaw will be showing new work at Banks Mill, Derby, in a solo exhibition entitled ‘Talking About Mothers: Work in Progress‘. The exhibition was awarded to Tracey at an Artists’ Portfolio Day organised collaboratively between Synapse Arts and Embrace Arts, will feature material generated during Tracey’s year residency with the University of Nottingham’s Fine Art department. ‘Talking About Mothers‘ will run 10th-30th June Mon-Fri, with an opening event the evening of Fri 7th June. Visitors will be invited to make their own contributions and Tracey herself will be present each Friday to discuss the work.
