Helen Williams in ‘Wunderkammer’, MK Gallery, Milton Keynes

Socket artist Helen Williams has been selected for inclusion in the MK Gallery‘s January Project Space exhibition Wunderkammer’. The exhibition draws on the history of the Cabinet of Curiosities, and features contibutions from artists and collectors across a range of themes in a celebration of the practice of collecting.

The exhibition is open daily except Mondays until Sunday 2nd Feb 2014, and is free of charge. Socket artists in Web of Water project

Socket artists Barbara Clayton, Jane Pepper, Nicola Rae and Janet Turville are four of the artists who have been selected to make work for The Web of Water, an international art, heritage, and educational project exploring ways in which we relate to water.

Organised by Artcore, Derby, the Web of Water art exhibition is curated by Sandhya Gajjar, Saira Lloyd and by socket artist Tracey Kershaw and features responses by both Indian and English artists to perspectives on water in an exploration of the ‘Graphic Novel’ format.

The exhibition will launch at the The Atrium Gallery, ICCA, 99 Hucknall Road, Nottingham on Saturday 25th January 2014, 11am – 1pm. It continues until 28th March, before moving to other venues in the East Midlands throughout 2014, and ultimately to the MS University, Baroda, India.

‘Stream…a continuing journey’, Sock Gallery, Loughborough


Another opportunity to see the exhibition recently shown at Déda, Derby – Socket’s exhibition ‘Stream … a continuing journey’ will launch at the Sock Gallery, Loughborough on the evening of Sat 18th January 2014.

The exhibition is an ongoing response by Socket artists to ideas about the flow of energy in any artistic process, and the work is informed by the vitality and exuberance of creative journeys. Exhibiting artists are Bob Allen, Barbara Clayton, Dorothy Dexter, Sue Greenaway, Tracey Kershaw, Paula McCann, Jane Pepper, Nicola Rae, Janet Turville and Helen Williams.

Socket will be holding three ‘Meet the artist’ events during the exhibition’s run, on Fri  23rd January,  Fri 6th and Fri 27th February.

Preview event is Saturday 18th January, 4:00 – 6:00pm, and the exhibition continues until 1st March 2014. Sock gallery is open daily, Mon-Sat 9am-5pm, Sun 11am-3pm, and when the venue is open for shows and events. Admission to the gallery is free.
